Wendell's 1998 images

EEEK! What happened to Wendell? The ol' fox created a li'l spell (with the help of Syddney, of course) to make himself, um, more cuddly; he did this to fulfill a special holiday request from his friend, Siyahamba. Siya's very impatient... couldn't wait until next year to have a fat Santa Claus... but he's been nice enough to Wendell to deserve such a gift from Santa this year. This gain was temporary for Wen. Soon after showing it to Siya, he changed himself back to his normal (only slightly pudgy) form. Merry Christmas, Siyahamba. (click here for the logfile of the scene this pic goes with.)

Well, it was about time for an updated body-pose of Sydd... he's put on about eighty pounds since he was created. Wendell's been eating well also; I decided I'd work them both into one update drawing. This one's done in pen and coloured pencil.

I've decided after the way that last drawing turned out, I really needed to do a head study of the duo. This drawing will be used as a reference for any future drawings of Wendell and Syddney. They really do have about the same face, but Sydd's is harder to draw because he's got a jawline and chin... If you're wondering, the sketch in the lower right corner is not Sydd's mugshot; the lines in the background are for measuring the proportions of his face.

Here's my first drawing of Sydd, before any good feedings. This sketch was another good challenge for me; I hadn't planned out what Wendell would look like without the whiskers... There was actually a very silly point during the sketching where Wendell's head (with beard and glasses) were put on this muscular body. I had to do it that way to make sure I got the shape of Sydd's face right. It's still nowhere near what I wanted... his face doesn't have enough 'fox' to it, and he looks older than I had intended. I'll be trying to work towards a better likeness in future drawings.

Alright, I must apologize for my silliness on the next one. Here's Wendell dressed up in his holiday garb. Since he's already got the beard, pipe, and bag of treats (his Never-Empty Bag of Cherry Danishes,) I figured he'd look pretty good dressed as Santa Claus... Yes, that is a pillow under his shirt, but he's still glad to see you. (If he keeps on eating the way he has been, he won't need the extra padding next year...)

Recently, Wendell discovered that he can wield magikal energy. Here he is, practicing. (Nope, he's not fat... his tummy's just very full from lunch with Gruff and Caius.)

Wendell finally decides to give in to his cravings. (I thought it would be a good idea to try drawing his profile before long, just to make sure it works out. It was actually a struggle for me... I'm not used to drawing such long noses.)

Wendell has been having trouble controling his urges. Here he is, relaxing after a big meal.

Some time ago, Mandy's player asked me to write a description of Wendell in his boxer shorts. Well, I haven't yet spent the time to write a morph for it. Until I do, here's a doodle of the skinny ol' fox for Mandy and anyone else who's dying of curiousity. (Wendell's very self-conscious about being in his underwear. I'm surprised he posed as long as he did.)

Here's my first drawing of Wendell, done in ink and coloured pencils. I guess I'm growing to like it... I wasn't very happy about the way it turned out, at first.
