This was an experiment with a new set of tools. I purchased some gel markers in a small group of six colours, and wanted to see what I could do with them on a scrap of black paper.

An art trade with Aerisyka, the coyote. We met on Furtopia forums.

Lordstacker took second place in my Furtopia.org contest. He received my very first ever con badge art.
I've always liked rams. I suppose it's the Aries in me.

This is Tabuu. His creator won a contest I was running on Furtopia.org, to draw extra flabby furry characters. He won first place, so he got a full character commission. I enjoyed making this image. There are lots of little details in the clothing, accessories, and fur.

The concept sketch for this image in non-photo blue pencil, and then the rough colour version, before any final details.

I missed the feeling of some of my early drawings of Wendell, so I went back to those basic tools. This updated version is drawn with tech pen, ball point, and watercolour pencils.

This image shows Wendell using his magick to teleport to his back yard. Many of his spells involve white light and snowflakes as side effects.
I did have lots of entertainment trying to pull off the special lighting effects. This drawing is done with Derwent watercolour pencils on black paper. Thanks to Siyahamba for help with shooting the reference photos.

A big pig dressed for a night on the town. This one is drawn on medium blue paper with Prismacolor pencils.

Long ago, I made this small textured background with finger paints, with the idea of drawing a portrait on top of it. It sat unused until this week.
The paper is glossy, and made for finger paints. Not much would stick to the top of it properly... I forgot that the best thing for this technique is to use china marker on top. So it became a mixed-media piece, as I had to experiment to find the right combination of stuff to mix up my colours. It took Prismacolor coloured pencils, Crayola crayons, and china markers (grease pencils.)

This is Siyahamba's sweet wizard character.

Wendell and Siyahamba enjoying a bath in one corner of their giant tub.

The late singer Janis Joplin as a wolf. It's not my best work, but I was experimenting with some odd coloured light sources.

Another project I was involved in had the artists drawing something in 3D space. I chose to draw Mordecai in his swamp shack, using true one-point perspective.

I know it's hot outside, here in the northern hemisphere. This pic isn't very seasonal, but I was involved in a project where I had to illustrate the word "cold." Here's what I came up with.
Arctic foxes are fairly resistant to cold temperatures. It also helps if they have a bit of natural body padding.

Detroit recently held the International Freedom Festival, a combined celebration of Canada Day and the U.S. Independence Day. A huge fireworks display is shared by Detroiters and the residents of Windsor, Ontario. I was watching the beautiful show on television with my love, Siyahamba, who originates from Canada. The demonstration and the shared moment inspired this image.

Happy Canada Day.
Happy Independence Day.

Siyahamba says that my Skippy character sounds like comedian Rip Taylor. I've wanted to draw him like that for a while. The black paper background worked well for the sequined texture of his coat.

This is my entry for the "Secret Santa" art trade on the Furtopia.org forums. Artists entering the project were randomly paired with other artists, to draw their characters. I drew Rye for my subject. This one was fun for me to draw... new textures and shapes I'm not very familiar with. I hope Rye's creator likes this image.

These were some quick studies I doodled to try working out some expressions for Wendell and Syddney. 4H pencil underdrawing, with tech pen and ball-point pen for the inking.
Compare to my oldest head study, here.

This is my minotaur security guard character on FurryMUCK, by the name of Oscar. The drawing has been sitting idle in my sketchbook for years (I think I started it in February 2001) and I finally got in the mood to do something with it. Not my best job, but I'm pretty rusty with ink.
The original is about 7"x11", ink and Derwent watercolour pencils on white paper.

A close-up portrait of the shy leopard, Humphrey.

This was a quickie, drawn entirely in digital format with a Wacom tablet. I haven't done any electronic images in a long time... just wanted to make sure I could still do it.

The barrel-shaped lion in a sexy pin-up pose.

Valentine's Day, 2005. Randolph and Skippy sharing kisses and cuddles. For my love and mate.
