| Another image for the AC galleries, 18"x24" black canvas with oil pastels. I never came up with a title for this one, but I have wanted to draw an iguana for a long while. Moody colours. |
One for the Anthrocon 2007 galleries. This is drawn on 18"x24" black canvas with oil pastels. It took me about ninety minutes to sketch. The original is more vibrant than this capture... due to the original's size, I had to use a digital camera to grab the digital image, rather than my preferred scanner method. |
The last image made for the Anthrocon 2007 program book. "Looking to the Future" theme again. I'm worn out on doing greyscale images. Now I can go on to something more colourful. This is drawn digitally with Fractal Design Painter 5, exclusively using airbrush tools with various greys. The original is 4800x6000 pixels (8"x10" at 600 dpi.) The design has never touched paper, though I will probably run a limited edition signed print series for sale and for the Anthrocon galleries. |

Squirrel Stargazer: "Looking to the Future." Made for the Anthrocon program book. I had this squirrel character planned out for another drawing six months ago, but ended up doing this one first. He's probably going to make another appearance sometime soon. (My first time drawing a squirrel, by the way.) Original is 9"x12", scratchboard. (EssDee Scraper Board... the best stuff I've found.) |
| Randolph, the grumpy but sweet restaurant manager. This was an experiment with oil pastels on beige pastel paper. I'd never had much luck with that tool before, but this came out pretty neat. |
Generations: "Looking to the Future." Another idea for the Anthrocon program book. My thoughts were to show how fashions have changed over the last century, starting from Edwardian times and working towards 1990s Grunge. I did it in daily strip format (13"x4" ) so I have options to submit it to other publications if I get the chance. Original is done with cheap ball point on bristol board. |
My first official conbook submission, for Anthrocon 2007. The theme is "Looking to the Future." I feel a bit constrained, but I'm trying to keep things to greyscale. Drawings don't look right when converted from colour to black-and-white. Original is 8"x10", done with grey Prismacolor pencils on black paper. |
An experiment with Crayola Color Explosion Rainbow paper. I used the included markers to clean the black away, then used an alcohol-soaked swab to bleach away some of the rainbow background to get it white. A close-up image of the immense and spoiled cheetah, Winthorpe. |
A gift for a nice guy I met at the two conventions I attended. I told him that I wanted to draw something for him, but the occasion didn't arise at MFF. I sent him this afterwards. Black paper with Prismacolor pencils, 3"x5". |
Another visit on Siyahamba's leopard characters, the three brothers Clyde, Spencer and Humphrey. I did this as a practice piece for the Anthrocon 2007 con book drawings I have planned. I like the way it came out, so I plan to submit it there, and to my portfolio. Cheap ball-point pen on bristol board, 10"x8". |
I was commissioned to paint this alligator/tyrannosaur morph, Gatoraus Rex, relaxing and skywatching. This project pushed me to work on my backgrounds, especially painting in small format. I think this is my first landscape on canvas ever. Original is 11"x14", acrylic on canvas with a black gesso background. |
| The Valentine 2007 gift for my mate. It's of our wizard and apprentice characters, drawn on black paper with Prismacolor pencils. |
A commission for Truck, and a surprise for his rotund mate Tolstoy. This one was alot of fun to put together. I'm a big fan of bibs. Original is 11"x14", Prismacolor pencils on bristol board. |
